11th Annual MPA Jury | 2021

The jury for the 11th Annual Mobile Photography Awards:

RodrigoRodrigo Rivas is a freelance photographer who has defended smartphone photography for more than a decade. He was a winner of The Darkness category in 2017, in addition to several honorable mentions over several years in other categories.

In addition to his work as a photographer, he is a trainer about smartphone photography (and more photographic subjects) at Madrid photography and film school, EFTI. He has written three books about smartphone photography technique with Anaya Photoclub (the most important publisher of training in photography, in Spain and Latin America). He collaborates, regularly, with the Spanish photographic media, Photolari (where he leads a podcast about photography/video too). He has worked and collaborated with many smartphone companies including Apple, Huawei, Samsung, Xiaomi, OPPO, LG, and more.

He currently works much of the time as – Category Expert of Photography & Video – at the online creative training company Domestika. His photos may be seen right here.

evEvgeny Tchebotarev is co-founder and CEO of Sloika.xyz, a new NFT marketplace for photographers and collectors. He previously founded 500px, a global photo-sharing marketplace, and later has been Chief Growth Officer at the photo editing software platform Skylum for over 3 years. He began his journey in photography in 2002 and since then he has spent the entirety of his professional career dedicated to the betterment of visual creativity, focusing on photography and design.

In June 2021 Ev co-founded Sloika to build a new NFT experience for photographers. He serves as a CEO in this new venture.

Ev is an active photographer, and has been honored to judge many world-class photo contests, including Red Bull Illume, Photo Life, and Sony World Photography Awards.

DominikaDominika Koszowska is a doctoral student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, Poland. Her work has awarded in more than a dozen competition exhibitions in Poland and around the world. She has also won several art competitions, including: two awards at WKF National Geographic (2016), Honourable mention at the Mobile Photography Awards (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), shortlist Mira Mobile Prize (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019). She was the title Book Photographer of the Year in the Moscow International Foto Awards. She was the Grand Prize Winner in the 8th annual Mobile Photography Awards 2018.

Dan Liu is an independent photographer & visual artist who currently lives in Chengdu, China. His work focusses mainly on humanist and landscape photography.

Dan has traveled to nearly 50 countries around the world & 100 cities in China where he explores & records the relationship among various social & cultural groups, as well as their unique characteristics. He is a contributor to a number of media and photo agencies & has held lectures at Peking University, Tsinghua University, Communication University of China, among others.

Dan Liu was the winner of the 2020 Mobile Photo Awards Grand Prize & the 10th MPA Photographer of Year.

GlennGlenn Homann is an experienced and very passionate iPhone Photographer based in Brisbane, Australia. True to the ethos of “always having the camera in your pocket”, his interests encompass all genres. Gliding from sweeping romantic landscapes to intimate street portraits. From grungy urban details to sparse architectural minimalism.
His work has been recognized in some of the world’s leading Mobile and iPhone competitions. Numerous category wins at the Mobile Photography Awards (MPA) as well as the iPhone Photography Awards (IPPAWARDS) and the Australian Photography Awards are a testament to his desire to push Mobile Photography to the limit.

matosManuela Matos Monteiro studied Philosophy and Psychology. She is the author of several books on Psychology, Psychosociology and Pedagogy She coordinated NETPROF – Portuguese Teacher’s site on the Internet and directed 2:PONTOS magazine. Since the 1970’s she has developed photographic work and has participated in collective and individual exhibitions.

With her iPhone 3s Manuela began to explore the potential of mobile devices. She has won several prizes in contests and has exhibited in Portugal, Brussels (European Parliament), Mozambique (Maputo and Beira), France (Paris and Bordeaux), Florence, Berlin (two photography biennials 2013 and 2016), Miami, Kansas City, Barcelona among others. She is artist founder of NEM – New Era Museum. She has been a jury member for multiple national and international photography competitions. She has curated several photo exhibitions and organized 7 editions of the MIRA Mobile Prize. She has directed since 2013, with João Lafuente, the galleries Espaço MIRA, MIRA FORUM and since April 2017 the gallery MIRA | performative arts, all in Porto, Portugal.
